Remaining 2008 Milpitas Camera Club Schedule:
- Saturday, August 16 Pt. Lobos
Meet up at Bite-O-Wyoming 7:30 a.m. (I'll try to be there a bit earlier.)
You may enter the park at 8 a.m., park at Sea Lion Point parking lot (just go straight on the road once you enter the gate) meet group there at about 9 a.m. Admission is $10 per car ($9 for a car with a senior)
Lunch at Barnyard in Carmel. (Time to be determined by participants.)
Mike wants to see the cars at the Barnyard. If he cannot come, we may opt for another lunch location.
- Friday, August 22 through 25 Mendocino long weekend at Gualala house
Early travelers will meet at Gualala house Friday afternoon
Weekenders will arrive later Friday night (hopefully in time for a nice fire.)
Weekenders have to leave Sunday afternoon
Monday travelers will leave sometime Monday afternoon.
Saturday night is community dinner night followed by ghost stories and s'mores by fire ring.
Those who want to float on Saturday let me know.

Carpoolers meet at Bite-O-Wyoming at 7:30 a.m.
First stop is San Juan Bautista Mission. (church may be in session yet)

May be rescheduled for October 11 & 12 (depending upon tree reports--will look into this and establish a solid date in a few weeks.)

Side trip options: Lundy Canyon, Bodie ghost town, Bridegeport, Mammoth attractions--Devil's Postpile, June Lake, or further south to the Bishop area attractions: including Mountain Light Gallery, Whitney Portal (Lone Pine), Manzanar, Ancient Bristlecone Forest.

Camping at Pfeiffer Big Sur campground (car camping) amidst redwoods. (Campground has shower facility near campsites, fire rings etc.)
Waterfall nearby, several hikes, Big Sur River, close to ocean and restaurants etc.
- Saturday, November 15 Conservatory of Flowers, SF Golden Gate Park
7:30 a.m. Carpools meet at Hobees in Sunnyvale, take 101 N or 280 N
Other nearby attractions: Japanese Tea Garden, Strybing Arboretum, Golden Gate Park Children's Playground, Windmills, Great Highway, Fort Funston, etc.
- Saturday, November 29 Colma Cemetery - City of death
8 a.m. Meet at big stone gate of Forest Lawn Cemetery on El Camino Real. The city of Colma has 1.5 million graves in it and only several thousand live residents. Most of the cemeteries are spectacular and fascinating and full of historical figures. If you are a California history buff, you'll see a lot of familiar names.
Other cemeteries include: Masonic Cemetery (Emperor Norton); Jewish cemetery (Wyatt Earp); Serbian/Croatian cemetery; modern columbarium Forest Lawn; pet cemetery; Chinese cemetery (two of them); etc.
If we shoot several hours, we could meet at the Basque Cultural Center in the city of South San Francisco for a great family-style dinner. The Basque restaurant there is wonderful.

Sunday, Piedras Blancas / Hearst Castle optional
